This lotion is designed as a second‑step cleanser, not a replacement for your first wash. In the evening, start with a gentle water‑based cleanser to remove the bulk of sunscreen, makeup and surface grime. Then saturate a cotton pad with the lotion and sweep it over the face, paying attention to the nose, chin and hairline where residue tends to linger. If you have breakouts on the back, shoulders or chest, you can use the same method there.
After the lotion has dried (it does not need rinsing), apply any treatment serums you use — such as niacinamide, azelaic acid or a retinoid — followed by a non‑comedogenic moisturiser. Even oily skin needs hydration; skipping moisturiser often triggers more oil production. In the morning you can skip the lotion unless you feel an oily film after cleansing, but most people find once daily in the PM sufficient.
If you already use prescription acne products (retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, topical antibiotics), introduce this lotion slowly — start with every other evening — and watch for excessive dryness or irritation. Always avoid the eye area and any broken skin.
