Before you apply the dye to all of your hair, perform a strand test on a hidden section to see how shade 7.0 develops on your current base.
- Mix a small amount of the cream with the developer as instructed on the package, using the same ratio you will use for the full application.
- Apply the mixture to a 2‑3 cm strand of hair, preferably behind the ear or under the crown, and cover it with the supplied plastic cap.
- Leave it on for the full recommended processing time (usually 30‑45 minutes) to allow the pigment to fully develop.
- Rinse the strand thoroughly with lukewarm water, gently towel‑dry and evaluate the colour.
- If the result is too light or too dark, adjust the amount of developer or the processing time for the full dye accordingly.
- Wait at least 48 hours after the test before coloring the entire head, especially if you have a history of scalp sensitivity, to observe any delayed reaction.
Why this matters: porous or previously colored hair can absorb pigment faster, leading to a deeper or uneven result; the test reveals how your hair will react, allowing you to anticipate the final tone.
If the strand appears too dark, you can dilute the mixture with a little more developer or reduce the processing time; if it is too faint, you may leave it on a few minutes longer during the full application.
Remember to wear gloves during the test as well, and avoid applying the dye to irritated or broken skin.
