Lemongrass oil has a potent, crisp scent that can linger and mix with future oils if your diffuser isn't cleaned. For an ultrasonic (water-based) diffuser, unplug it first. Empty any remaining water, wipe the reservoir with a soft cloth, and then fill it halfway with clean water. Add a few drops of white vinegar, run the diffuser for 5 minutes, then discard the water and rinse thoroughly. For an aroma lamp (with a candle), let it cool completely. The ceramic or metal bowl can be wiped clean with a paper towel dampened with rubbing alcohol to cut through the oily residue, then wiped again with a damp cloth. Drying all parts completely before the next use prevents water spots and mold. Regular cleaning after every few uses ensures the true scent of each oil comes through clearly.
