Because shungite is a relatively soft stone, the main rule is to handle it gently and avoid anything that could scratch or chip it. For daily care, a dry, soft cloth is usually enough to remove dust. The unpolished finish has a slightly uneven matte surface, so dust can settle in small grooves; a soft-bristled brush, like a clean makeup or paint brush, can help reach those areas without scratching the stone.
Avoid harsh cleaning products, abrasive sponges, and soaking the pyramid in water. If you want to dampen a cloth, use it very slightly and dry the pyramid immediately afterwards. Prolonged moisture can dull the raw surface or affect the stone over time, especially because it is unpolished and more exposed than a polished piece. When you are not using it, set it on a stable, dry surface away from edges. If you want to protect furniture, place it on a small tray, coaster, or cloth, since the bottom of an unpolished stone can be rough.
There is no need for oils, waxes, or special products. In fact, applying them to a raw shungite surface can change its appearance and trap dust. If the pyramid gets a scratch or a rough spot, that is a natural result of handling a soft mineral; for most people it is easier to accept the worn look as part of the object's character. Keep it away from direct heat and from other stones that could knock against it during storage.
