How do I apply this massage oil so my hands move smoothly and I don’t waste the product?

Start with less than you think you need. A 1 L bottle is easy to over-pour, and a generous puddle on the skin does not improve the massage — it just makes the surface slippery and harder to work with. Pour a small amount, roughly enough to cover your palms, and rub the palms together for a few seconds. This warms the oil so it spreads more evenly and feels comfortable on the body.

Apply it to clean skin. If you use it after a shower, make sure the skin is dry or lightly towel-dried, not soaking wet, because water stops the oil from spreading evenly. Start with long, smooth strokes on larger areas such as legs, arms and back. When you need more oil, add it to your hands first and then to the skin, rather than pouring directly from the bottle onto the body. This keeps the layer thin and prevents cold spots.

Reapply during the session when the hands start to drag. A good sign that you need more oil is when the skin begins to pull instead of glide. Because this oil contains a coconut oil base, it has enough slip for slow, continuous movements, but you can control the amount yourself.

After the massage, leave the remaining oil on the skin for a while so it can form the light protective layer described for coconut-oil skincare. If you feel there is too much, blot the excess gently with a towel. You do not have to wash it off immediately; washing with soap removes the emollient layer and reduces the softening effect. If you need to dress right away, wait a few minutes for the oil to absorb or use a towel to take off the surface film.
