Are there any contraindications or situations in which this product is best not taken without consulting a doctor?

Although this is a food supplement and not a medicine, potassium-magnesium complexes call for a careful approach in a number of situations.

Consult a specialist before you start taking it if:

  • you have kidney disease — the kidneys regulate potassium excretion, and if their function is impaired, additional potassium may build up to undesirable levels;
  • you have heart disease — electrolyte balance is directly linked to heart rhythm, so any changes in mineral intake are best agreed with a cardiologist;
  • you take diuretics — some diuretics remove potassium, while others, on the contrary, retain it; in both cases, additional intake needs monitoring;
  • you take blood pressure medication — some of these (for example, ACE inhibitors or sartans) also affect blood potassium levels;
  • you already take other mineral complexes — so as not to exceed the total intake of potassium and magnesium from all sources.

The product is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in case of individual intolerance to its ingredients — these are the contraindications stated on the label. In other cases, too, it is recommended to consult a doctor before use and not to exceed the recommended daily amount.
