Although chamomile is one of the most familiar herbs in household use, it does not suit everyone or every situation.
- Allergy to the daisy family (Asteraceae/Compositae). This is the main restriction. German chamomile belongs to the daisy family, and in people who are hypersensitive to plants of this group (ragweed, chrysanthemums, calendula, echinacea, etc.) it can cause an allergic reaction — both when taken internally and on external contact. If you are hypersensitive to chamomile, the product is not used, and if an allergic reaction occurs, stop using it and see a doctor.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding. Using any herbal tea during these periods requires prior consultation with a doctor — and this applies to chamomile too.
- Children. Before giving herbal tea to a child, discuss it with a paediatrician: the age, dosage and appropriateness of use are determined individually.
- Taking medicines. If you take any medicines on a regular basis, check their compatibility with chamomile tea with a doctor or pharmacist — this is especially relevant for anticoagulants and sedatives.
In other cases, chamomile tea in moderate amounts is generally well tolerated by healthy adults. This product is not a medicinal product and is not intended to treat or prevent disease.
