Does it protect hair from sun fading, or do I still need extra protection?

It contains UV filters, which according to the product description add an extra layer of protection against sunlight. Sun exposure is one of the factors that can make dyed hair fade and feel drier, so using a product with UV filters while you're out is a helpful extra step. But this is a conditioning balm, not a dedicated sunscreen for hair. It is not designed to block all UV rays, and it probably won't remain on the hair in a continuous film the way a dedicated heat or UV protectant might.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors, especially during the summer, you can still use other practical measures:

  • Wear a hat when the sun is strong.
  • Look for a separate hair protectant with UV filters and reapply it after swimming or heavy sweating.
  • Wash your hair with lukewarm water to slow color fading.
  • Use a gentle shampoo for colored hair, not a strong clarifying wash.

Also, the balm contains Arctic raspberry extract, which brings antioxidant compounds that may help shield the hair fibre from environmental stress. Again, that doesn't replace avoiding too much sun, but it contributes to a more protective routine.
