In a rinse-off shampoo, botanical extracts have only a short contact time with the scalp, so they do not work like a leave-on treatment. Calendula is traditionally valued for its soothing, balancing character; sage is often included in products for oil-prone skin to help it feel fresher and less overloaded; and yarrow is used for its toning effect. The broader herbal blend of nettle, chamomile, lemon balm, hops and St. John's wort also shapes the formula and can contribute to cleaner roots, softer foam behaviour and a more airy finish after drying.
The actual removal of oil is done by the washing agents in the formula. The herbal extracts do not stop sebum production or permanently change how oily the scalp is. What they can realistically do is help the scalp feel less oily during the wash and reduce the feeling of excess sebum without making the roots feel stripped. If you expect the herbs alone to keep the hair grease-free for days, you will be disappointed; washing frequency and styling habits play a larger role.
To get the most from the product, use a moderate amount, massage the scalp gently and rinse thoroughly so no residue is left. If irritation appears, stop use. This shampoo is a cosmetic cleansing product, not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any scalp condition.
