What does the ointment contain, and why does it have no essential oils? — St. john’s wort ointment

The herbal part of the formula is built on three extracts. St John's wort is the key ingredient: in herbal tradition it has long been used externally for areas that need rest after strain. St John's wort contains natural compounds, including hypericin, which is why the extract is valued in products with a mild softening and soothing profile. Comfrey is traditionally used in ointments for muscles and joints, especially after physical activity. Yarrow is known as a plant for sensitive areas where gentle action and good tolerance matter.

The base is olive oil and beeswax. Olive oil softens the skin and ensures even application, and beeswax gives the ointment a dense texture and helps it stay on the chosen area without running.

The formula deliberately contains no synthetic fragrances or essential oils. Essential oils are a common source of irritation and allergic reactions, especially in people with sensitive skin. Their absence makes the formula more neutral and suitable for those who react to them. This does not mean that the ointment will suit absolutely everyone: plant extracts can also cause an individual reaction, so a trial application to a small area before full use remains a sensible precaution.
