What is bischofite, and why is it added to products for joints and muscles?

Bischofite is a natural mineral rich in magnesium and mineral salts. In cosmetics and body care products it is used above all for its local warming, relaxing and softening effect. That is why it is often included in formulas intended for the area around the joints, the back and the muscles.

When applied to the skin, bischofite helps improve microcirculation in the superficial tissues. Combined with massaging movements, this creates a feeling of warmth and lightness in the treated area — which is usually just what is needed after a long working day or a workout.

In this gel-balm, bischofite is complemented by plant extracts: comfrey (contains allantoin, which is valued in cosmetics for its ability to support skin renewal), marsh cinquefoil (traditionally used in formulas for the knees, elbows and lower back) and golden callisia (used as a component with a warming and softening effect). Camphor and menthol enhance the overall sensation on application, creating a contrast of coolness and warmth.

It is important to understand that this is a cosmetic product, not a medicinal product. It helps make sensations in the problem area more comfortable, but it is not a substitute for medical care in case of serious joint or spine complaints.
