What should I know about the liquorice in this tea — are there any limits on how much to drink?

Liquorice is a traditional component of many herbal blends and gives the drink its characteristic mild sweetness. In YOGI TEA Relax it is present alongside other plants, so its share in a single tea bag is small.

Nevertheless, liquorice is one of the few plant ingredients for which European regulators (in particular EFSA) point to the need for moderation when it is consumed regularly in significant amounts. This is especially relevant for people with high blood pressure or oedema, or those taking certain medicines.

Pregnant and breastfeeding women are advised to consult a specialist before regularly drinking teas that contain liquorice.

If you drink the tea from time to time, one or two cups a day as part of a varied diet generally raise no concerns for healthy adults. If you have a chronic condition or take medicines, it is better to check with a doctor or pharmacist whether this blend is compatible with your situation.
