What does the combination of menthol and camphor do, and how does it differ from an ordinary moisturising balm?

Most body balms work mainly as emollients — they moisturise and form a protective layer on the skin. This balm is built differently: its key feature is a thermosensory effect provided by menthol and camphor.

Menthol activates the skin's cold receptors, creating a feeling of coolness immediately after application — even though the temperature does not actually drop. Camphor complements this effect and over time produces a feeling of gentle warmth. Together they create a characteristic "contrast" response, which many people choose specifically after physical exertion or when they want to relieve tension in their muscles and joints.

Black pepper and horseradish extracts enhance the warming component, while Labrador tea, marsh cinquefoil, wormwood and burdock make the overall feel of the balm more expressive.

At the same time, the formula also contains emollient ingredients — shorea oil, wheat germ oil, walnut oil and panthenol. They help keep the skin smoother and reduce the feeling of dryness after it has been massaged in, so the balm is not harsh despite its active formula.

It is important to understand that the balm is a cosmetic product and is not intended to treat or prevent any disease.
