Oak bark extract contains tannins. They have an astringent effect: on contact with the mucous membranes they create a slight feeling of tightness, which many people associate with "cleanness" after brushing. That is why oak bark is traditionally included in products focused on gum care.
Unlike standard mint toothpastes, where the main emphasis is on menthol and abrasives, the botanical profile here is more layered. Besides oak bark, the formula contains chamomile, nettle, yarrow, St John's wort and hops, which create a distinctive herbal taste and an after-brushing feel noticeably different from the familiar "pharmacy" mint.
Spruce extract adds a fresh coniferous note, while menthol and menthyl lactate provide a long-lasting cooling aftertaste. The result is a toothpaste with a pronounced, rich flavour profile. This is subjective, and those used to neutral toothpastes should bear it in mind when choosing.
