Most iodine supplements use iodine in the form of potassium iodide or iodate: mineral salts that are well studied and widely used. DIOD Jood-Aktiv uses a different form: iodine-casein, that is, iodine chemically bound to casein, a protein of milk origin.
The fundamental difference is that the trace element is supplied not in a free mineral form but as part of a protein complex. This approach is often described as a gentler option for people who are sensitive to high single doses of free iodine, although how each person reacts is always individual.
Bear in mind that because the carrier is a milk protein, the product is not suitable for people with casein intolerance or an allergy to cow's milk proteins. If you follow a vegan diet or avoid dairy products for medical reasons, it is worth replacing this supplement with an alternative that contains no dairy components.
At the same time, the formula remains simple: iodine-casein is the only active ingredient, with no added vitamins, minerals or plant extracts. This is convenient if you already take multi-ingredient supplements and want to add iodine specifically without doubling up on other nutrients.
