The fundamental difference lies in how the product is delivered. When oil is dripped in with a pipette, it lands in one spot and runs down under gravity, so its distribution depends on the position of the head and the number of drops. A spray delivers the product as a fine, even mist, covering the walls of the ear canal without the need to dose each press precisely.
The specially shaped Waxcontrol nozzle is designed around the anatomy of the ear canal: it helps direct the spray carefully without inserting the tip deep into the ear. This reduces the risk of accidental pressure on the eardrum, which is theoretically possible if a syringe or bulb is used carelessly.
Another point is the water-free formula based on olive oil. Unlike water-based solutions, it does not cause the earwax to swell, which makes the softening process more gradual and gentle. Water-based drops or hydrogen peroxide solutions act faster but can cause a feeling of pressure when there is a significant wax plug.
In practice, the spray is easier to use on your own: you steady the ear with one hand and press the bottle with the other, with no need to count drops or keep your head tilted for a long time. This format is well suited to regular hygiene rather than a one-off procedure for a dense wax plug.
