How does a knee warmer differ from a medical orthosis, and when should you choose it?

The NEBAT knee warmer and a medical orthosis serve different purposes. An orthosis is designed to stabilise the joint after injuries, in cases of instability or during rehabilitation — it has rigid or semi-rigid elements and is prescribed by a specialist. The NEBAT knee warmer, by contrast, is a soft, elastic accessory with no rigid inserts: its purpose is to retain the body's natural warmth around the knee and reduce exposure to cold and wind.

The light compression from the elastane gives a feeling of support and may make movement feel subjectively freer, but this is not the same as medical stabilisation. So the product does not replace an orthosis and is not intended to correct injuries.

The NEBAT knee warmer is worth considering if you:

• get cold outdoors in cold weather and want to protect your knee from getting chilled;
• sit still for long periods (for example, in the office or on public transport) and feel stiff from the cold;
• do gentle physical activity — walking, a light warm-up — and want the joint to stay warm.
