How does pepper balm differ from an ordinary warming cream?

Most warming creams create a superficial feeling of warmth thanks to mild warming additives. Pepper products work differently: the active components of pepper stimulate receptors in the skin, producing a gradual, increasing sensation of warmth that feels deeper and longer-lasting.

Another feature is the distracting effect. The intense sensation of warmth in the area of application shifts attention away from muscle discomfort, which makes the overall perception of that area easier. That is why pepper products have historically been used in warming massage — not only as an auxiliary oil but also as a tool in their own right.

At the same time, bear in mind that the sensations from pepper products are more intense than from standard warming creams. Because of its high warming activity, the balm is not used by people with sensitive skin, while others should apply a moderate amount and check the reaction on a small area before full use.
