How does a cream with 20% urea differ from ordinary foot creams with a lower concentration?

Urea is used in cosmetics in different concentrations, and the nature of its action depends on this. At low concentrations (usually up to 10%), it works mainly as a moisturising ingredient: it attracts water and helps retain it in the upper layers of the skin. Such formulas are suitable for everyday care of normal or slightly dry skin.

At a concentration of 20%, urea begins to act differently: in addition to moisturising, it helps soften the stratum corneum, so dense, keratinised areas become more pliable. That is why this percentage is more often chosen for the feet, where the skin is under constant pressure and prone to hardening.

In this cream, urea is complemented by glycerin, which enhances the moisturising effect and reduces the feeling of tightness, and menthol, which gives a light cooling sensation after application.

Because of its greater activity, a cream with 20% urea is not recommended for irritated or damaged skin, and if your skin is very sensitive, it is better to start with a test application on a small area. The formula contains sweet almond oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil), so if you are allergic to almonds or other nuts, it is better not to use the cream.
