How does this product differ from sage tea bags, and do whole leaves have any advantages?

The main difference is the single ingredient and the form of the raw material. This product contains only common sage leaves (Salvia officinalis), with no flavourings, fillers or other herbs. This lets you control exactly what you are brewing.

Whole or coarsely cut leaves generally release their essential oils and bitter compounds more slowly than the finely ground material in tea bags. This means the flavour develops gradually, and the risk of ending up with an overly bitter infusion at a standard brewing time is lower. On the other hand, you will need a strainer or a teapot with a filter — a tea bag is more convenient when travelling, but at home whole leaves are more practical when it comes to dosing.

For those who alternate between different herbal teas or make their own blends, pure sage with no additives is a convenient base: you can combine it with mint, chamomile or thyme to taste without worrying about overlapping ingredients.

50 g of dried leaves makes about 25 brews of 1 teaspoon (about 2 g) per 200 ml, which is roughly 25 days of taking ½ glass twice a day, making this pack an economical option for regular seasonal use.
