Pure cedar nut oil is a cold-pressed oil from cedar nuts with a mild nutty taste. Its aroma is neutral, and it works well as a dressing or an addition to dishes without any pronounced extraneous flavour.
This blend differs in that it contains cedar resin at a concentration of 7%. Resin is a natural substance secreted by coniferous trees. It gives the product a characteristic resinous, coniferous aroma and a noticeably richer, more astringent taste than ordinary cedar nut oil.
The oil base — refined deodorised sunflower oil with added unrefined cedar nut oil — plays a practical role in this format: it helps distribute the resin evenly, since resin on its own is a thick substance that is inconvenient to consume directly. This makes the product easier to dose and add to food.
The choice between pure cedar nut oil and a blend with resin is a matter of taste and of which product profile suits you better. If you appreciate traditional Siberian products with a vivid natural character, the blend with resin will be more interesting. If you need a neutral oil to add to your diet, ordinary cedar nut oil will suit you better.
