Cod liver oil is obtained from the liver of cod. Cod liver oil, as the name suggests, is extracted from the liver of the Atlantic cod. This fundamental difference in raw material determines the difference in composition.
Regular fish oil is valued above all for its high content of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) with a relatively small amount of fat-soluble vitamins. Cod liver oil contains less omega-3 by concentration, but it is naturally rich in vitamins A and D, precisely because the liver is where fish store them.
In the OstroVit capsules this combination is kept: omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and vitamin D are present together in one capsule. For those who want to get several components from one source without combining several supplements, this format may be convenient.
An important nuance: because of vitamin A, cod liver oil should not be combined uncontrolled with other multivitamin complexes that contain this vitamin, as fat-soluble vitamins accumulate in the body. If you already take vitamin A or D separately, it is better to consult a specialist before adding this product to your diet.
