Indole-3-carbinol is indeed a natural compound: it forms in broccoli, white cabbage, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts when they are chopped or chewed. However, the amount of this substance in vegetables depends on the variety, growing conditions, degree of heat treatment and portion size. When boiled or stewed, a significant part of the indoles is destroyed.
Evalar Indool forte capsules contain a standardised dose of indole-3-carbinol, 100–135 mg per capsule, so you know exactly how much of the substance you get with each dose. The formula also includes broccoli concentrate, which contains accompanying cruciferous compounds that take part in the antioxidant protection of cells.
This does not mean the supplement replaces vegetables in the diet: cruciferous vegetables contain fibre, vitamins and other nutrients that the capsule does not. The supplement is usually seen as a complement to the diet, especially when there are few cruciferous vegetables in the menu or when you want a more predictable intake of indole-3-carbinol. Before you start taking it, it is worth consulting a specialist, especially if you take any medicines.
