The chlorophyll found in plant leaves dissolves poorly in water and breaks down quickly — under the influence of light, heat and stomach acid. That is why food supplements, including VITATEKA, use sodium chlorophyllin — a semi-synthetic derivative of chlorophyll in which the fat-soluble part of the molecule (the phytol ‘tail’) has been removed and the acid groups have been converted into sodium salts.
This makes chlorophyllin:
water-soluble — it mixes easily with water and does not separate;
more stable — it retains its structure better during storage and in the digestive tract;
convenient for a liquid format — which is why such products come as a ready-made solution rather than a powder.
Scientific interest in chlorophyllin relates primarily to its antioxidant potential and its ability to interact with certain unwanted substances in the digestive tract. At the same time, chlorophyllin and plant chlorophyll are different compounds, and it is incorrect to transfer data on one directly to the other.
Green vegetables remain an important part of the diet: they contain fibre, vitamins and other phytonutrients that the supplement does not. Liquid chlorophyll is an addition to the diet, not a replacement for it.
