How does hematogen with flax seeds differ from regular hematogen?

Classic hematogen is a bar based on food albumin with sugar, glucose syrup and vanilla. In this version from Mogemas Uab, roasted flax seeds have been added to the traditional recipe and the vitamin profile has been broadened: in addition to iron, it contains vitamin C, folic acid and vitamin B12.

What changes in practice:

  • The texture is denser and slightly grainier than the smooth, pastille-like classic — the bar comes across more as a toffee with inclusions.
  • The taste takes on a light nutty note from the roasted seeds.
  • Vitamin C matters here not on its own but in combination with iron: it contributes to better absorption of non-haem iron from food.
  • Folic acid and B12 are involved in blood formation and energy metabolism — their presence makes the formula more comprehensive than basic versions of hematogen.

It is important to understand that this is still a sweet food product with a noticeable sugar content, not a medicine or a substitute for a proper diet. If you watch your sugar intake or have a chronic condition, consult a specialist before eating it regularly.
