How does this tea differ from ordinary fireweed tea and from classic pu-erh? — Siberian Puer "Raspberry", 96 g-VAN DA

The name "pu-erh" here refers to the technology, not the origin: like classic pu-erh, this drink goes through fermentation, but the raw material is fireweed (Ivan chai, narrow-leaved willowherb), not the tea plant Camellia sinensis. This is a fundamental difference: the composition contains no caffeine, so the drink has no stimulating effect and is suitable for an evening tea.

From ordinary (unfermented) fireweed tea, Siberian pu-erh differs in taste and aroma. Fermentation makes the infusion deeper, denser and richer, with a "tea-like" character that is appreciated by those who like full-bodied herbal infusions. Unfermented fireweed tea is, as a rule, lighter and milder in taste.

In this particular product, raspberry leaves and guelder rose berries are added to the fermented fireweed. Raspberry leaves bring a delicate herbal-berry note, and the guelder rose makes the taste slightly rounder. The result is a multi-layered drink without the pronounced astringency of classic pu-erh.

Another feature is the brick format. Pressing helps preserve the aroma during storage, and the brick itself is easy to divide into portions.
