How does the alcohol-free chaga elixir differ from ordinary kombucha or dried raw chaga?

Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) is a tree fungus that was traditionally used as a decoction or infusion. The dried raw material requires lengthy brewing at a certain temperature, otherwise some of the bioactive compounds simply do not pass into the liquid. A ready-made liquid extract spares you this step: the concentration has already been set by the manufacturer at a ratio of 1:5, and all you need to do is dilute the product in water.

The key difference from many similar elixirs is the absence of alcohol. Alcohol is often used as a preservative and extraction agent, but some customers specifically prefer a water-based extract: because of personal convictions, for health reasons or simply because they do not want alcohol in their daily diet. This product is designed for exactly this audience.

Kombucha, sometimes called ‘tea mushroom’, is a completely different product: a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast, a fermented drink. Chaga and kombucha are not related either biologically or in composition, despite the shared word ‘mushroom’ in their names.

The Vitateka elixir contains polyphenols and melanin-like substances that occur naturally in chaga and are involved in protecting cells from oxidative stress. Citric acid is added to regulate acidity, not as an active ingredient.
