How does 10% camphor spirit differ from other warming products such as ointments and gels? — Camphor Spirit 10% 25 ml - Vitateka

The main difference lies in the form of the product and the way it acts on the skin:

  • Camphor spirit is a water-alcohol solution. It spreads quickly over the skin, leaves no greasy layer and does not stain clothing once dry. The alcohol base evaporates quickly, so the product is convenient for targeted application before a massage or rub.
  • Warming ointments and gels usually have a fatty or gel base that keeps the active ingredients on the skin longer and provides more prolonged contact. Some of them contain additional ingredients — for example, pepper extracts, menthol or essential oils — with a different sensation profile.

Camphor spirit is chosen when you need a quick, light warming effect without residue on the skin — for example, as a preparatory step before a massage or for a short rub after exertion. An ointment or cream is preferable if you need longer contact or additional moisturising of the skin.

Because of its alcohol base, the camphor solution can dry the skin when used frequently on the same areas. If your skin is prone to dryness, you can apply an ordinary moisturiser after the procedure — once the alcohol has completely evaporated.
