Yes, it can — temporarily. Turmeric’s yellow colour may leave a light tint on light-coloured washcloths, towels, bathroom basins, or the skin itself if lather is left on the skin and allowed to dry. This is common with turmeric-based soaps. On skin, the tint is usually very faint and rinses off with water; if it appears on nails or calluses, it is not permanent and fades with normal washing over a day or two.
Rinse your skin thoroughly after lathering, especially in creases, nail folds, and the sides of fingers.
Keep the bar on a draining soap dish so it does not sit in water and leave yellow residue on the sink or bathtub.
Rinse or wipe the sink or bathtub after use if you notice any colour.
Use a dedicated washcloth or loofah if you are worried about staining white fabrics.
The soap is meant to be a cleanser, not a stay-on product, and a thin film of turmeric does not need to remain on the skin for the product to work as a wash. If you have very fair or easily stained skin, try it first on a small area of the hand or arm and observe how it behaves before using it as your regular body cleanser. Avoid the eye area entirely — turmeric can irritate mucous membranes.
