Can this gel replace my regular face or body moisturizer in summer?

It can, in the right conditions. The gel is built around aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis), which forms a light water-binding layer on the skin surface and helps reduce the feeling of dryness. In hot, humid weather — on holiday, after the beach or after a workout — many people find this lightweight hydration sufficient on its own, especially if richer body lotions feel heavy or greasy in the heat.

However, a gel and a cream do different jobs. A gel mainly delivers water and a fresh finish; a cream also contains oils that slow moisture loss from the skin. So a reasonable rule of thumb:

  • Gel alone: warm weather, normal-to-oily skin, or whenever you want fast absorption with no residue.
  • Gel first, cream on top: if your skin tends to be dry or you notice tightness returning within an hour or two, apply the gel as a hydrating layer and follow with your usual moisturizer to lock it in.

On the face it can slot in after cleansing, in place of or before your regular day or night cream depending on how your skin feels. Since it absorbs fast, it layers easily without pilling under other products.
