Can the collar be worn at night while sleeping?

The collar is described as useful at home and during rest, so overnight wear is a natural question. Still, the product notes that prolonged use without professional guidance should be avoided. Night-time use is therefore not something to decide on your own: if a specialist has not recommended it, take the collar off before bed.

If a professional did advise wearing it at night, a few checks will help:

  • Fit the collar before the child falls asleep and make sure it cannot slip out of place.
  • Confirm that breathing and swallowing are comfortable in the child's usual sleeping position.
  • In the morning, inspect the neck for red marks or chafing and check whether the collar moved during the night.

A child who is restless, keeps pulling the collar off, or complains of discomfort at night is a reason to contact the specialist, not to make the collar tighter. Also, do not use this collar to change sleep posture; it is not a sleep aid. Its purpose is movement restriction during a period when the neck should not be overworked.

If the child wakes with unusual symptoms such as dizziness, numbness, or weakness, stop using the collar and seek medical advice.
