Overnight use is a common way to get more out of a foot treatment, but it depends on the product you put underneath. The socks are designed to keep a product in contact with the skin longer, and sleeping for several hours is an extension of that idea. However, you first need to check the instructions on your cream, balm or mask. Some foot masks are meant to be rinsed off after a certain time, and keeping them on longer can irritate the skin. Leave-on balms, rich creams and oil-based treatments, on the other hand, are usually suitable for a longer contact period.
If you decide to wear them overnight, apply a moderate layer of the product, not an excessive amount. A thick coating can feel sticky and may soak through the socks, which makes the experience uncomfortable rather than helpful. Put the socks on after the product has been spread evenly over the heels, soles and sides of the feet. Cotton is breathable, so overheating is unlikely, but if you feel your feet getting too warm, the socks are too tight, or the skin starts to tingle or itch, take them off and wash the product off.
Keep in mind that the socks will absorb some of the product during the night. That is normal and does not mean the treatment failed; the part that stays in contact with the skin is doing the work. In the morning, wash your feet as usual, wash the socks, and let them dry before the next use.
