Can I use this scrub before self-tanning?

Yes — this scrub is a good prep step before self-tanning, because an even surface gives a more uniform colour. Self-tanning creates colour on the top layer of the skin, and if that layer is rough or has dead cells, the colour develops unevenly — darker in smooth areas and lighter or blotchy in rough ones. The scrub removes the loose cells, so the tan applies more evenly.

The timing matters: use the scrub one to two days before you plan to apply the tanner, not on the same day. Exfoliating opens the skin slightly, and applying tanner immediately after can cause irritation or an uneven result. A day or two lets the skin settle.

Focus on the areas that tend to be roughest and absorb the most unevenly: elbows, knees, heels, and shoulders. Rinse the scrub thoroughly and make sure the skin is completely dry before applying the tanner — any moisture or oil residue can affect the colour.

One caution: avoid scrubbing freshly shaved skin. Shaving removes the top layer and leaves micro-cuts, and scrubbing right after can sting and irritate. If you shave, do it the day before or after the scrub, not in the same session. Also avoid the scrub on sunburned or irritated patches, and on open cuts.

Remember that the scrub does not change the colour of the tanner — it only prepares the surface. The final result depends on the tanner itself and how evenly you apply it.
