This cream-vaseline is formulated for thick, resilient skin on hands, feet, elbows, and knees. The face has thinner skin, more active sebaceous glands, and a higher density of pores. The heavy petrolatum base, while excellent for occluding moisture on rough body areas, can trap sebum and dead cells on the face, potentially leading to clogged pores, milia, or breakouts — especially for combination or oily skin types.

The botanical extracts (lavender, rosemary, arnica, propolis) are chosen for their conditioning effect on tough, weather-exposed skin. On the more vascularized, sensitive facial skin, these same compounds — particularly the fragrant components in lavender and rosemary and the allergenic potential of propolis — carry a higher risk of stinging, redness, or contact dermatitis. The eye area is explicitly noted to be avoided. For lips, a dedicated lip balm with a simpler, fragrance-free formula is more appropriate. Reserve this product for its intended use: localized, very dry, rough body zones.
