Can I use this oil on my face?

While pure coconut oil is versatile, it can be a very rich emollient. Its primary function is to form a light protective layer on the skin's surface, which helps reduce moisture loss and makes it feel smoother. For the face, this occlusive property may feel heavy or potentially lead to congestion for some skin types, particularly if you have oily or acne-prone skin.

If you wish to try it, start with a patch test on a small, discreet area of your face (like the jawline) for a few days. Use a tiny amount—a pea-sized portion warmed between your fingers is often enough. Observe how your skin reacts. If it feels comfortable and doesn't cause breakouts or irritation, you may incorporate it sparingly, perhaps as an occasional intensive treatment for very dry areas or to soften cuticles. It is for external use only, and you should avoid the delicate eye area. For a daily facial moisturizer, many people find lighter, non-comedogenic oils or dedicated facial creams more suitable. If you have a diagnosed skin condition or highly reactive skin, consult a dermatologist before introducing new products.
