Salicylic acid and tea tree oil are both active ingredients, so this cream can be too much when combined with other strong exfoliants, retinoids or alcohol-heavy products. The product itself is designed for oily and blemish-prone skin, but using it at the same time as another BHA, a retinol, or a high-alcohol toner can overload the skin and cause dryness, peeling or redness.
If you want to use both, the simplest approach is to alternate days. Use the retinol or other active on one day and this cream on the next. Another option is to use the other active in the morning and this cream in the evening. But do not apply two exfoliating products to the same area at the same time. If you are already using a prescription treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist before adding this cream.
Check the labels of your cleanser and toner. If they already contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or other exfoliating agents, you are probably getting enough exfoliation. In that case, this cream may be unnecessary. If your skin feels tight, looks flaky or starts to peel, cut back to one active product.
