Tar soap is sometimes used on the scalp as an occasional cleansing option, particularly when roots get oily quickly or when styling products build up easily. There is no separate version for hair; the same 70 g bar can be lathered and applied to wet roots. Use the lather rather than rubbing the solid bar directly over the scalp for a long time. Massage gently, rinse thoroughly, and then apply conditioner to the lengths of the hair. Soap-based cleansing can leave hair feeling rough or dry, and conditioner helps offset that. This is not a daily shampoo; a reasonable approach is to treat it as a periodic wash, for example once a week or every other week, and see how your scalp and hair respond. If the scalp becomes red, itchy, or noticeably drier, or if the hair feels unmanageable, stop using it on the head and choose a milder shampoo. Keep the lather away from the eyes, since soap in the eyes is painful and the best response is to rinse thoroughly with water.
