Because the balm forms a dense, non‑absorbent film, it is best suited for targeted protection rather than as a base for a full makeup routine. If you have extremely dry patches on the face, a tiny amount can be smoothed over those spots before applying foundation, but spreading it over larger areas may create a slick surface that prevents makeup from adhering evenly. In most cases, the product is used on areas that are not meant to be covered by cosmetics, such as lips, hands, or the edges of the nose, where a protective layer is more important than a flawless finish. When layering with other skincare, apply lighter serums or moisturisers first, allow them to absorb, and then place the balm only on the driest zones that need an extra barrier. This approach lets the active ingredients of the earlier products penetrate while the balm seals in the moisture underneath. The balm can also be used after makeup removal to soothe the skin, but it should not be relied upon to “set” or “prime” makeup. As always, stop use if you notice any discomfort, and if you have known sensitivities to fragrance or chamomile, test the product on a small area first.
