Are there any restrictions or precautions I should know before using this gel?

Yes, there are a few points worth knowing before you start.

  • Intact skin only, in short courses. Because the formula contains comfrey, it should be applied only to unbroken skin — not to cuts, scrapes, rashes or irritated areas — and used in short courses on the same area rather than continuously for long periods. If you want to use it regularly, alternate the areas you apply it to and build in breaks.
  • Keep it away from the eyes and mucous membranes. Do not apply near the eye area, lips, nostrils or other mucous membranes; the warming ingredient would be very unpleasant there.
  • Sun exposure. St. John's wort in topical products is commonly associated with increased skin sensitivity to sunlight, so it is reasonable to avoid strong sun on freshly applied areas.
  • Adults only. The product is intended for adult body care and is not meant for children.

Pregnant or breastfeeding users, and people with very reactive skin, chronic conditions or ongoing medication, should consult a specialist before use.

Finally, remember the product's scope: it is a cosmetic gel-balsam for local skin care and comfort over joints and muscles. It is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease, so persistent or worsening complaints in a joint or muscle are a reason to see a professional rather than to rely on a topical cosmetic.
