Description of active ingredients
Comfrey (milk thistle) is a medicinal plant that promotes the restoration of damaged tissues. Stimulates the regeneration of bone and cartilage tissue in diseases of the joints, improves the quality of synovial fluid, joint mobility, accelerates the healing process of bone fractures. Comfrey contains the substance allantoin, which actively stimulates bone growth and epithelial regeneration, reduces pain, has hemostatic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.
Black elderberry contains sambunigrin glycoside (amygdonitrile isomer), which decomposes into glucose, benzaldehyde and hydrocyanic acid, as well as rutin, essential oil, organic acids (caffeic, malic, valeric, chlorogenic), tannins and a number of other biologically active compounds. All these active substances form the basis of the chemical composition of black elderberry (dogwood). Elderberry has long been used in diseases of the musculoskeletal system due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The anti-inflammatory properties of the flowers of the plant are due to the joint action of fatty oil, which weakens the initial phase of inflammation with rutin, which has an anti-inflammatory effect in the exudation phase, and also reduces the sensitization of the body and reduces the permeability of the vascular walls.
Essential oils of lavender and pine have a regenerating, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-edema effect, improve blood circulation in the area of inflamed joints.
Pine due to the high content of biologically active substances (ascorbic acid, tocopherol, carotene, tannins, aluminum, iron, copper, phytoncides) has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, disinfectant, wound healing, antiseptic effect.

Biokon Geel-palsam “Kukekannus” 70 ml is a topical balm-gel for joints and muscles, chosen when an area feels overworked, stiff or less mobile after physical strain. Its texture spreads easily, absorbs without a heavy greasy film, and suits local application where you want a warming, massaging step for the skin around the knees, shoulders, back, elbows or ankles.
The key plant in this formula is comfrey, traditionally valued in external products for areas that need recovery after mechanical stress. Comfrey contains allantoin, a compound known for encouraging surface tissue renewal. In a balm-gel, this matters because the product is used on the skin above tense or overused zones, where massage plus active botanicals can help the area feel looser and more flexible. People often choose comfrey-based cosmetics for periods of high physical load, active lifestyles, or age-related stiffness in movement.
The composition is complemented by elderberry extract and the essential oils of lavender and pine. Elderberry has a long history of use in herbal preparations for the musculoskeletal area; its plant compounds are appreciated in cosmetics aimed at skin exposed to local irritation and puffiness. Lavender oil is often included for its soothing, relaxing feel, while pine oil gives a fresher, more stimulating sensation during application. Together, these ingredients make the gel-palsam suitable for massage of zones that feel tired, tight or heavy after exercise, long hours standing, gardening, or desk work that leaves the neck and shoulders tense.
What makes this format practical is the combination of a balm-like effect with a light gel base. It is easier to apply than a dense ointment, especially if you want to use it on larger areas or before rest after activity. This kind of product fits well into an everyday body care plan for people who prefer herbal topical products for muscles and joints.
As with any cosmetic for external use, apply only to intact skin and avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If your skin is very sensitive to essential oils or plant extracts, it is wise to test a small area first. If discomfort persists or the area is significantly swollen, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
