The pharmacological action of chestnut is due to the presence of esculin, fraxin and escin. Horse chestnut preparations have anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous effects, slow down blood clotting.
They increase the tone of venous vessels, accelerate the movement of blood in the veins, thus preventing the formation and growth of thrombosis, improve microcirculation, and reduce capillary permeability. Escin lowers blood viscosity. Esculin has a stimulating effect on the antithrombic activity of blood serum, increases the production of antithrombin in the vessels.
The fruits are used for acute and chronic thrombophlebitis, for the treatment of varicose veins, trophic ulcers of the legs, atherosclerosis of the vessels of the extremities, arteritis. For chronic diarrhea, malaria, fresh fruits are used, and for uterine and hemorrhoidal bleeding, fried fruits are used.
Method of preparation and use:
5 g per glass (200 ml) of boiling water, boil for 15 minutes, take 1 tbsp. spoon 3 times a day.
